Generation Z has grown up in a digitalized world and places great importance on values, flexibility, and authenticity. Attracting and engaging this audience requires tailored strategies. But which aspects matter the most?

To give employers a clearer picture of young people’s attitudes toward summer jobs, we conducted a comprehensive survey.

  • Most young people start looking for summer jobs in January and February.
  • A majority find it challenging to secure a summer job.
  • The main motivators are salary and the opportunity to gain work experience.
  • Geographic location and salary are the most important factors when choosing a summer job.
  • A clear majority prefer job listings to include a salary range.
  • Job search websites are the most commonly used channel for finding summer jobs.

About the 2025 Summer Job Survey

This year’s edition of the summer job survey was conducted between January 27 and February 17, 2025, on jobbland.se/sommarjobb. A total of 3,519 responses were collected from participants of various ages, with the majority aged 15–18. Respondents came from across Sweden, with the highest proportion (about 21 %) from Stockholm. In total, 96 % of respondents have applied for or plan to apply for a summer job in 2025.
